National Collegiate Rugby, the premier collegiate rugby organization, is excited to announce the appointment of Sophia Vojta as its new Marketing Manager. This newly established role marks a significant milestone in NCR’s ongoing efforts to showcase its teams and players while enhancing the visibility of collegiate rugby.

Sophia will be instrumental in overseeing NCR’s marketing efforts and driving the growth of collegiate rugby across the nation. Sophia will lead campaigns aimed at increasing participation, fan engagement and brand awareness for NCR and its member clubs.

Sophia brings a wealth of experience and passion to this role. A 2021 graduate of Bradley University with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Sophia has honed her marketing skills through impactful roles in both non-profits and marketing agencies. Her professional journey is complemented by a deep-rooted connection to rugby, having played the sport since 2013 when she founded her high school girls team. She continues to make significant contributions to women’s rugby as both a coach and player for the Peoria Bootleggers.

Of her new position, Sophia said, “It’s not everyday you get to combine your passion with your work. I’m really excited to join this team and help grow the sport I love so much.”

Sophia joins the team at a dynamic time for collegiate rugby. NCR has recently announced over 50 new teams, and expects over 650 member clubs during the 2024-25 season. In addition, the recent success of the women’s Olympic team is driving an increase in grassroots popularity across the country.

"As we continue to expand rugby’s impact within the collegiate sports community, this new role demonstrates our commitment to supporting our members and expanding rugby participation," said Wade Smith, NCR’s Chief Operating Officer. "We are confident that Sophia will play an integral role in amplifying our sport and connecting the rugby community in exciting and meaningful ways."
