National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) announces that five schools from the Florida Rugby Conference will join NCR's women's competition starting in the Fall of 2024. The five new clubs include:

  • Ave Maria University
  • Florida International University
  • St. Thomas University
  • University of Miami
  • University of South Florida

These five programs follow other Florida women’s programs—including Florida State, Florida and Central Florida—in a move to NCR’s association. While the programs will ultimately align with Division II, most of the programs will play developmental rugby and not seek a Fall Championship pathway in 2024.

Angela Smarto, NCR’s Women’s Director, remarked: “I could not be happier for our newest membership in the Sunshine State. Their leadership is passionate about growing participation statewide, and we share that vision for a vibrant college rugby scene in Florida and look forward to working with them on strategies to do just that.”

The new schools, along with the Florida Division I schools, will form a Florida All Star team and compete in the All Star 7s Tournament in Atlanta this January. In addition, all of the programs will seek CRC bids through participation in regional qualification tournaments.
