December 3 - St. Bonaventure claimed the Women’s Small College national championship Sunday at SaberCats Stadium in Houston, beating Wisconsin-Platteville, 22-17. All-American center Makenna Ramsey paced the Bonnies to their first national title in program history with a hat-trick of tries, earning MVP honors.

Her first score came off an assist from flyhalf Ashlee Reid, putting the Bonnies up 5-0 after 10 minutes. Platteville tighthead Emma Callaghan answered back in the 25th minute, finishing off a long series of pick-and-goes. The Pioneers added another try in short order, when outside center Ashley Head dotted down following a long run off an errant St. Bonaventure lineout.

The Bonnies regained the lead right before halftime through tighthead prop Kaylee Vincent, taking a 12-10 advantage into the break. Ramsey’s second and third tries put the Bonnies up, 22-10, and Platteville lock Shea Mineau answered back a few minutes later after an offside penalty, cutting the deficit to five with under 10 minutes to play. Platteville managed possession in the attacking end late, but St. Bonaventure turned the ball over in the ruck and ran the clock out with a series of pick-and-goes to cap off the victory.

In the national third place match, Endicott defeated SUNY Cortland 53-20.
